Former Evergreen Training coordinator George Sheatz passed away shortly before Christmas.

George was heavily involved in the early success of Evergreen and its training efforts. Beginning in the early 1990s, George worked with the Evergreen Founders to recruit members for the group. He also worked alongside Founder Bill Grebe Sr., to establish the group’s first School of Product Knowledge. Based on the success of that first school, George took a leadership role and served as Evergreen’s training coordinator for nearly 20 years.

“George lived a remarkable life,” said Evergreen CEO Kevin Higginbotham. “He was an inspiration for everyone who met him. He was a true friend and mentor to me.”

In 2004, Evergreen honored George by establishing the George A. Sheatz Excellence in Education Award. The award is presented each year to the top manufacturer instructor participating in Evergreen schools.

A Celebration of the life of George Sheatz is planned for Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Seal Beach Country Club, 3901 Lampson Ave. Seal Beach, CA 90740 phone 562-596-4425.

“Dad always said he wanted a party so that's just what we're going to have,” said George’s daughter Karen Satmary. “You really can't picture him without a big smile on his face so we plan on having lots of laughs to celebrate this amazing man that touched so many lives.”

Please email or call Karen if you plan to attend at 562-881-0384 or gsheatz1@roadrunner.com
